Saddle stitching or staple binding is always popular. It is ideal for products such as note books, booklets, catalogues,  programs, pamphlets, comic books, magazines, small brochures and manuals.

Saddle stitched books have staples inserted into the spine of the book as a form of binding the leaves together. The staples pass through the folded crease from the outside and are clinched between the center most pages.  Two staples are commonly used but larger books can be made more robust and secure by using more staples along the spine.

Saddle stitch binding may seem like a strange name for a book binding process that uses no thread. However in the printing industry stapling is commonly called stitching. Also the collated pages are draped over a saddle-like apparatus during the stapling or stitching process. Hence the name saddle stitching.

Saddle stitch binding offers a quick and cost effective way of producing small books or magazines. The finished book lies almost flat when opened which is  particularly helpful if you have art work that spans two adjacent pages.

Double Loop Wire or Wire-O Binding is commonly used for publications where it is desirable to be able to open the publication flat or fold it back on itself without breaking the spine.  It is ideal for when you need a book that will lie flat open on the page you need like a recipe book or instruction manual.

A hard cover can be used for durability, with a huge range of options such as foil block printing or embossing to make every wire-o bound book project unique and ideally suited to individual customer’s requirements.

Double Loop Wire binding is a popular alternative to case binding and comes in a variety of forms including wire, spiral or coil binding. In the standard method the inner pages and cover are multi-punched down one edge to allow a steel wire comb to be inserted and clenched to form the finished book.

The wire-o comb comes in a variety of colours, diameters and sizes which allow for many different styles of cover to be used. The pages can be printed in landscape format and the cover designed as a stand to display the pages.

A perfect bound book offers a very  professional look with a  square printed spine and the finished books stack well. Perfect binding is generally used for paperback and softcover books, such as corporate reports, manuals, catalogues, and magazines.

Perfect binding is a method for binding soft backed books. It involves the pages being folded into sections and then collated and gathered together. The page back edge is then ground off and securely glued into the spine of a printed cover and then trimmed to size. For extra strength the inner pages can be section sewn.

Case binding is the traditional way to produce a hard backed book. The pages are sewn together in sections and attached to the inside of a case with end papers which are tipped on to the book block and then glued into the case.

Case binding produces a hard back book which is long lasting and robust. Cased-in books last a lifetime.

This is the most common binding method for hard backed books such as a commemorative book or a register. Cased-in books are made of grey board and covered with printed and laminated paper. They can also be covered with material such as PVC coated paper, book cloth, leather cloth or real leather.

There is a wide variety of coverings  available for this type of binding so we are more than happy to advise you on what choice is best suited to your needs.
